MyWebsite.co.za has allocated a budget of over R750,000 in support of South African Freelance Web Designers. That’s a total value of approximately $40,795 USD.
As a WordPress-Exclusive agency, they are awarding free subscriptions to web hosting and industry-leading premium tools (a.k.a. plugins) that professional web designers rely on for their income.
While freelancers continue to receive a monthly income from their customers, they can use this opportunity as a nifty cash injection, not having to pay the relevant subscriptions toward these sites. Whether it be for a month, 3 months, 6 months or a year, the income earned for these services is literally #MoneyForMahala (A brand new hashtag was created for this initiative – post and share to your heart’s content!)
*The value of these give-aways are approximately R1,899 per website per month and freelancers typically receive an average gifting of 3 months, and up to a full year in some instances.
*Edit 17th July 2024: MyWebsite.co.za has upgraded this investment in the community to Lifetime Free Subscriptions for Elementor Pro, WPMU DEV Pro, and MailPoet Pro. That is a total value of nearly R23,000 per approved website, PER YEAR. (Ts & Cs Apply)
We don't care what you earn from these services in monthly subscriptions. That's your business - and this give-away exists to support your business. #MoneyForMahala #SupportFreelancers #WebDesignChat

Currently, yes!
This might change in the near future to help boost the business income of more freelancers.
Currently, the only criteria is that your application must include least one customer website from which you derive an income – Even if your income was for the design work only, while currently making no profit from their hosting.
In this first-of-its-kind promotion from MyWebsite.co.za, some basic terms and conditions have been specified in the application form, along with the general Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
As the promotion progresses, terms and conditions as well as qualifying criteria will be evaluated and may be amended without notice, to improve or streamline the program, based on our sole discretion.
By submitting your application, you agree that any resulting relationship will always be governed by the latest version(s) of all terms and conditions.
This is the first major drive aligning with our mission as an agency, for agencies.
The massive investment in the well-being of the Freelance Web Design Community is, in fact, a precursor to an upcoming project that aims to assist Web Designers beyond the obvious financial benefit of this campaign.
“I want to enable designers and teams to connect and collaborate on a personal level, both privately and with customers, in a controlled and distraction-free environment,” said van Rooyen.
“The ultimate goal is to incorporate a peer-based learning centre for Pro’s and Newbies alike to share and sharpen their skills while providing opportunities to generate income from the knowledge shared.”
All successful applicants of the current “Money For Mahala” drive will also gain free, premium access to this new project when it launches.
More on this at another time.
